Simon 'Lowend' Thomas - aka "Yogi' Born up North in the late seventies, to Welsh parents he did most of his “growing up” in the West Midlands, and after many years moving around has finally settled back in Worcester which is where he calls home. Influenced early by his fathers music, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Cream & Pink Floyd, he discovered his own tastes in Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Neds Atomic Dustbin, Rage Against the Machine and Metallica However, it was on discovering the acid jazz funk of Jamiroquai that really spurred Yogi to put down the 6 string and pick up the bass. From his love of Jamiroquai came a love of all things funk and he lists ‘organic’ funky house dance music as one of his greatest inspirations, but only after the great former Jamiroquai bass player, Stuart Zender.. Yogi and lead guitarist Jake go way back and have been the closest of friends for many years, by association he is also very close to Al, the Daddy of the band. Yogi was a fan of The Kitchen and regularly came to watch the band perform with different line ups always featuring Al and Andy and latterly with Jake on lead guitar. He always wanted to be in the band, and finally, late in 2008 when their former bass player left, it opened an opportunity for him to get involved in the band he loves! His current weapon of choice is a Sandberg California, a modern variant of Fenders iconic Jazz bass. Yogi has a smile for everyone and an incredibly infectious personality.
